A very competent reliability professional recently sent us an interesting note on the topic of spare parts. He's not alone in explaining that his company continues to have issues with its spare parts philosophy and overall parts management. He had consulted Improving Machinery Reliability (ISBN 0-88415-661-3) and got a measure of information from our Table 1, but confessed that he had been hoping for more.
