Sempra Energy LNG is developing and constructing a new $600 million liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal near Port Arthur, Texas. The facility will be able to process 1.5 billion ft3 /day of natural gas. It will be located on a portion of 3,000 acres, owned by Sempra Energy, along the Port Arthur Ship Canal. A pre-filing notification has been submitted to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to begin securing the required FERC approvals. The project is scheduled to begin construction in 2006 with startup in 2009.
