Bayer Antwerp N.V. and Shell International Research Maatschappij BV have a licensing agreement. This enables Shell to implement Double Metal Cyanide (DMC) technology to produce polyether polyols using Shell's process design under Bayer's existing Impact patents. The technology identifies a process to use DMC as catalyst for polyoxyalkylation. The license agreement specifically includes a continuous process producing long chain polyether polyols, which are used as the base products for flexible polyurethane slabstock foams.
