Product to control SO2 SOLVAir Select 300 is based on sodium bicarbonate. It is claimed to be for use in air pollution control applications, specifically treatment of sulfur dioxide (SO2). A patent has been filed for Select 300, which is produced at Solvay Chemicals' soda-ash plant at Green River (Wyoming). Production will reportedly improve the plant's overall environmental performance. Initial production capacity for Select 300 will be 125,000 tons per year (tpy). However, the plant can be expanded to accommodate the anticipated growth of market demand, resulting from tightening air pollution regulations. Plant startup is expected in early 2010.
