Explorer fuel pipeline at reduced rates until at least mid-week
NEW YORK (Reuters) — Explorer Pipeline Co, which hauls fuel from the Gulf Coast to the US Midwest, said on Monday it will continue to operate at reduced rates until permanent repairs are complete on its line from Houston to Glenpool, Oklahoma.
Permanent repairs are scheduled for mid-week, said Dolin Argo, Explorer’s vice president of operations and business development. He did not disclose what the reduced rate was.
A small flange leak was discovered last week and temporary repairs were put in place, curbing volumes on the line and sending gasoline prices in the Midwest higher.
The pipeline system, which has a capacity of 660,000 bpd, takes about 11 days to move a barrel of gasoline, diesel, fuel oil or jet fuel from the Gulf Coast region to the Chicago area.
