A comprehensive research study by the American Clean Skies Foundation (ACSF) and Navigant Consulting, Inc. indicates that the US has 2,247 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of natural gas reserves. This amount is claimed to be "enough to last more than 100 years." The finding disagrees with existing forecasts from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). ACSF says that the EIA has "historically underestimated and understated the contribution and potential of unconventional natural gas from three sources: tight sands, coal bed methane and gas from shale formations."
