Evonik completes capacity expansion for adhesive raw materials in Marl

Evonik has significantly expanded its capacities for silane-modified amorphous poly-alpha-olefins. With the completion of the plant expansion in the Marl Chemical Park, Evonik is now able to produce 30% more of this special adhesive raw material.

The silane-modified specialties are amorphous poly-alpha-olefins that are sold under the brand name VESTOPLAST® 206. They are ideally suited for the formulation of high-quality hot melt adhesives, which are especially suitable for bonding difficult-to-bond polar substrates such as glass, ceramics and metals. But above all, they are characterized by excellent adhesion to a wide range of plastics, such as Made of polypropylene, polyester and polyamide.

"With the expansion of capacities, we are accompanying the increasing demand for reactive polyolefin systems and ensuring greater delivery reliability," explains Roberto Vila-Keller, Head of the Coating & Adhesive Resins division. "Due to its special chemical properties, VESTOPLAST® 206 is mainly used in lightweight construction or used in the construction industry and thus contributes to sustainable solutions."
