Ionikylation: Commercially Proven, Non-Hazardous, Non-Corrosive, and Environmentally Friendly Alkylation Technology of the Future
30 July 2019

Presented by: Well Resources, Inc.

Environmental sustainability and safety are important considerations when operating chemical processes. Traditional alkylation technologies utilize corrosive catalysts such as sulfuric acid or hydrofluoric acid, and these chemicals pose serious safety and environmental concerns when handled in large quantities. In addition, a number of recent high profile refinery explosions in the United States has renewed discussions over the use of dangerous chemicals near urban centers.

Ionikylation is a novel alkylation technology that uses a proprietary composite ionic liquid as the catalyst to produce alkylates that meet or exceed the quality of those produced from traditional means. The non-hazardous and non-corrosive nature of the catalyst allows process equipment to be manufactured using carbon steel and minimizes risks to refinery personnel. Join Well Resources’ Dr. Keng H. Chung as he discusses the development and widespread deployment of Ionikylation in Asia-Pacific and shares results and experience from commercial plant operations.

Taking the Digital Twin from Design into Operations by leveraging an EPC 4.0 strategy
25 June 2019

Sponsor: AVEVA and McDermott

As EPCs shift from a document-centric to a data-centric approach, the potential value realized by both the EPC and owner/operator is almost limitless. Digital Twins contain 3D models, engineering and process data, and operational processes that are the foundational building blocks for a suite of value-added applications in production optimization, visualization, artificial intelligence, automation, and predictive maintenance.

Vaseem Khan, Global Vice President Engineering at McDermott, will share his end state vision for the Design and Operational Twin, explaining how Design Twins created and refined during engineering, procurement and construction will become the Operational Twins once assets go live.

Hydrocarbon Processing's Industry Outlook: 2019 Update
20 June 2019

Sponsors: Burns & McDonnell and Siemens

Over the past several years, the world has witnessed significant downstream capacity growth in all sectors of the downstream hydrocarbon processing industry (HPI). To satisfy increasing demand for refined fuels, petrochemicals and natural gas, every region is investing to increase downstream processing capacity. Although the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and US regions will be the leaders in capacity growth, other regions have announced capital-intensive projects to meet future demand. With more than $1.8 T in announced projects globally, it is imperative that HPI companies receive the most up-to-date and valid information on market trends, and the future development of the downstream processing industry.

During this live webcast, Lee Nichols and Thad Pittman will provide a mid-year update on capital projects around the world, as well as major economic, environmental and political market trends that are shaping and influencing the industry in the near-term.

Training for Tomorrow at Total
4 June 2019

Sponsor: AVEVA

Any plant is only as good as the people operating it. A poorly trained operator can undo the most advanced engineering, placing the company’s profit at risk and, more importantly, its people.

Total, 2018’s most profitable oil major, sees training as a key enabler to achieving its goals for safety, sustainability and profit. Total’s OLEUM training centers provide tailored technical courses that address safety, process operations, and more.

The next-generation program uses AVEVA Operator Training Simulators deployed in the cloud on AVEVA CONNECT to reach operators everywhere. AVEVA’s Cloud OTS enables widespread use of dynamic, high-fidelity simulation models that mirror the controls and behavior of actual site operations.

In this webinar, Eric Scappazzoni from Total will share how they are bringing digital transformation into operator training with AVEVA Operator Training Simulators in the cloud.
