China Blue Chemical Co. Ltd. and Davy Process Technology (DPT), a Johnson Matthey Co., announced the successful start- up, performance test and plant acceptance of a 2,500-metric ton/day methanol plant in Hainan Island in the South China Sea in March 2011. The methanol facility is located at Dongfang. This facility will produce chemical-grade methanol—US “AA” grade and the Chinese GB388 standard methanol—to supply both the domestic Chinese market along with product available for export.
