Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has a design contract from Saudi Kayan Petrochemical Co., an affiliate of Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC), to develop a process design package (PDP) and front-end engineering and design (FEED) package for an ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) plant in Jubail Industrial City in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The UHMWPE plant is to produce 35,000 tpy, using ethylene sourced from Saudi Kayan’s existing olefins plant, and is reportedly of significant strategic importance, as SABIC is to use its own technology.
