The solvent-recovery section of the deoiling unit for wax production consumes substantial energy. In this study, the effects of operating conditions (pressure), energy consumption and cost, and processing flexibility are evaluated for nine different scenarios. The study uses pinch analysis and process simulation to identify the optimum balance in energy consumption while maintaining product yields and quality for paraffins wax. BACKGROUND The deoiling unit is very crucial, and it is used to produce paraffin wax either from medium vacuum gasoil (MVGO) and heavy VGO (HVGO) or slack wax obtained from the dewaxing unit.
