US senator suggests lifting ban on oil exports      The Trans-Alaskan pipeline terminus in Valdez, Alaska. Photo courtesy of The Center for Land Use Interpretation. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) recently released a report in which she argued for an end to the prohibition on crude oil exports from the US. Under existing regulations, the US Department of Commerce may license the export of crude oil under certain conditions, most notably if the oil is destined for Canada.
