Industry Perspectives: New downstream project announcements drop 14% in 2017

According to Hydrocarbon Processing’s Construction Boxscore Database, more than 770 new projects have been announced over the past 3 yr.

According to Hydrocarbon Processing’s Construction Boxscore Database, more than 770 new projects have been announced over the past 3 yr. FIG. 1 shows a trends analysis on new project announcements from 2015–2017. New project announcements have decreased from 302 in 2015 to 256 in 2016, and to 220 in 2017. This trend represents year-over-year decreases of 15% and 14%, respectively. FIG. 1. Total new project announcements by region, 2015–2017.
