KBR and Petrobras come together for ammonia project

KBR has a contract with Petrobras to provide licensing, basic engineering and extended basic engineering, and technical consulting services for the development of a grassroots ammonia plant in Tres Lagoas, Brazil.

KBR will license its ammonia technology for the anticipated 2,200 metric ton per day plant. Basic engineering services will be provided for the ammonia plant, as well as anticipated urea and urea granulation plants and related offsite utility units. Under the contract, KBR will also provide technical consulting services through the engineering, procurement and construction phase of the project.

“KBR is pleased to have the opportunity to partner with Petrobras in bringing this much needed resource to the region,” said Tim Challand, president, KBR Technology. “KBR’s strength lies in our ability to offer technologies and engineering solutions to meet the unique needs of our global clients. I am confident that our long-term experience in the ammonia market will add significant value and contribute to the successful execution of this important project.”
