C&I completes project for Hunt Refining and Gaylord Chemical

C&I Engineering recently completed the start up of the worlds only dimethyl sulfide (DMS) plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The plant is a cooperative venture between Hunt Refining Co. and Gaylord Chemical Co. LLC. C&I Engineering developed the process technology, and provided pilot plant design and testing, detailed design, procurement and startup services. Construction was completed on the 50 million lbs/year plant in June 2010. Production of DMS began in August 2010 and the DMS quality exceeds currently available reagent grade material.
