Jacobs wins engineering work on four Arkema PVC projects in China

Jacobs Engineering Group said it won four contracts from Arkema France for basic engineering services to support the provision of Arkema's proprietary suspension and emulsion technology to four of its clients in China.

Officials did not disclose the contract value.

Arkema's technology is being used in four new polyvinyl chloride (PVC) production plants in Hefei, Golmud, Etuoke Banner and Wu Lan Cha Bu, People's Republic of China.

Jacobs' PVC technology experts in its office in Leiden, The Netherlands, and Arkema's PVC technology team based in Lyon, France are currently performing the basic engineering work, the company said.

Arkema's PVC technology is one of the most efficient in the world.

As currently planned, the four new projects in China will add more than 4 million tpy of capacity to facilities using Arkema PVC licenses.

Since 2008, Jacobs and Arkema have collaborated worldwide on projects for which Arkema has licensed its PVC technology, the companies said.

"Arkema's relationship with Jacobs, one of the world's leading engineering and construction groups, offers special value to our clients,” said Otto Takken, vice president of Arkema's vinyl products division.

"Jacobs is extremely pleased to continue our collaboration with Arkema and to serve their clients in China,” said Jacobs vice president Robert Matha

“These contracts recognize our special technical capabilities in one key area of the competitive global chemical industry,” Matha added. “This new work also satisfies our ongoing strategy to strengthen Jacobs' presence in China."
