Solutia awards engineering deal to Jacobs for resin project in Malaysia

Jacobs Engineering Group was awarded a contract from Solutia to provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCm) services for the Kuantan resin plant in Kuantan, Malaysia.

Officials did not disclose the contract value.

The companies noted that the project is scheduled to be completed in 2013.

Jacobs said it will lead the project execution activities from its office in Singapore with work share support from its other offices in the region.

Solutia is constructing the Butvar polyvinyl butyral (PVB) resin plant.

Butvar resins are used to improve the adhesion, strength, durability and flexibility of products around the globe, according to project officials.

“We are extremely pleased to receive the contract for the Solutia resin plant in Malaysia,” said Jacobs vice president Tom Quinn.

“Jacobs is well aligned to Solutia's business goals, having supported Solutia early on in the project with front-end engineering services. We are proud to grow our relationship."
