BP to commission delayed UK biorefinery this year

By ALEXIS FLYNN

LONDON – BP’s Vivergo bioethanol plant in Hull, England, should be commissioned by the end of the year, the UK energy giant's head of biofuels said Tuesday.

The construction of the biorefinery plant, one of the largest in the world, was due to be completed by late spring.

The delays are due to BP making sure it is "dotting every i and crossing every t," said Phillip New, CEO of BP Biofuels.

"I hope by the end of the year," said Mr. New on being asked when he thought it would finally be ready.

"I'm optimistic," he added when pressed on how likely this new timescale would come to pass.
