Praxair starts up Anhui air separation unit in China

Praxair China has started up a large air separation plant in Wuwei, Anhui province, 100 kilometers from Nanjing, to supply oxygen, nitrogen, and clean air to the Anhui Wuwei coal-based chemicals project.

The Anhui Wuwei project is owned by Anhui HuaYi Chemical Co., Ltd.

The single-train air separation unit, with a capacity of 3,000 tpd, will also generate liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon.

The new supply will be integrated with Praxair China’s liquid production and distribution network in the region, improving distribution efficiency and reliability to the customers in the regional merchant market, according to the company.

“We’re very proud to have the opportunity to further demonstrate our strengths in supporting major projects in the chemical industry and we look forward to a long and successful commercial relationship with Shanghai HuaYi (Group) Company,” said Dr. Minda Ho, president of Praxair China.

Anhui HuaYi Chemical Co., Ltd. is an affiliate of Shanghai HuaYi (Group) Co., one of China’s largest chemical groups supplying fine and specialty chemicals.
