Uhde wins FEED work for Sibur PP plant in Russia

ThyssenKrupp Uhde won a front-end engineering and design (FEED) contract for a single-train polypropylene (PP) project of Russia’s Sibur, officials said on Thursday.

The plant will be based on LyondellBasell’s Spheripol process technology and is planned to have a capacity of 500,000 tpy. It is being built in Tobolsk, located in the Tyumen region of West Siberia.

The Spheripol process technology, which will be used at the plant, is the most widely-used technology for the production of polypropylene, according to project officials.

The plant will produce a wide range of high-quality polypropylene brands to use, for example, in textile and packaging applications as well as in the production of automotive body parts and consumer goods.

The contract will be executed in cooperation with local organization OOO Uhde, who will carry out the permitting for the contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed.
