Alfa Laval to give heat exchangers to US LNG plant

Alfa Laval has won a large order to supply compact heat exchangers to a liquefied natural gas plant (LNG) in the US for the processing of shale gas, the company said on Wednesday.

The order, booked in the company's energy and environment segment, is worth approximately SEK 55 million ($8.4 million). Delivery is scheduled for 2013.

The Alfa Laval compact heat exchangers will be used in a new, major shale gas processing facility in the US where they will recover and reuse heat in the gas cleaning process, thereby resulting in an energy-efficient process, according to the company.

“This is our second large order, within a short period of time, from the growing gas sector," said Lars Renström, CEO of the Alfa Laval Group.

"The order confirms once again that we meet the requirements from the major players in the oil and gas industry, both in terms of product performance and process knowledge."

The name and specific location of the client were not disclosed.
