Chevron, Chubu sign Australian LNG off-take pact

TOKYO -- Chevron has signed a contract to supply Chubu Electric Power with natural gas'>liquefied natural gas from the Wheatstone project in Western Australia.

Chevron and Wheatstone partners Apache Energy and Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration will supply Chubu with 1 million metric tpy for up to 20 years, Chevron said in a statement late Thursday. It didn't state when deliveries will begin.

Chevron is operator and 64.14% owner of the project. Apache Energy holds 13% and Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration 7%; several other companies hold the remainder.

Chevron also holds an 80.17% equity interest in the Wheatstone and Iago fields that provide 80% of the Wheatstone Project's feedgas.
