Chevron, Chubu sign Australian LNG off-take pact

TOKYO -- Chevron has signed a contract to supply Chubu Electric Power with liquefied natural gas from the Wheatstone project in Western Australia.

Chevron and Wheatstone partners Apache Energy and Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration will supply Chubu with 1 million metric tpy for up to 20 years, Chevron said in a statement late Thursday. It didn't state when deliveries will begin.

Chevron is operator and 64.14% owner of the project. Apache Energy holds 13% and Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration 7%; several other companies hold the remainder.

Chevron also holds an 80.17% equity interest in the Wheatstone and Iago fields that provide 80% of the Wheatstone Project's feedgas.
