Dow picks Fluor for engineering on planned Texas ethane cracker, PDH unit

Fluor was awarded a contract by Dow Chemical to execute a significant portion of its US Gulf Coast investments, the companies said on Thursday.

Fluor’s scope includes the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of a propane dehydrogenation unit, an ethane cracker, and associated power, utilities and infrastructure facility upgrades to support each unit.

The facilities will be constructed in Dow's Oyster Creek facility in Freeport, Texas.

Fluor booked the undisclosed contract value into backlog in the first quarter of 2013.
