Plains shuts Alberta crude pipeline in Canada after spill of 950 barrels

TORONTO -- Plains Midstream Canada has shut its Kemp pipeline after a spill of approximately 950 barrels of oil in northwestern Alberta.

More than 40 workers in the western Canadian province are cleaning up at the site of the spill, which has affected an area of roughly 3.5 acres about 55 miles north of Manning, Alberta, the company said in a news release.

The cause of the spill from the six inch pipeline is under investigation, the company said.

Officials from regulatory bodies are also at the site of the spill, it said.

Plains Midstream Canada is wholly owned subsidiary of Plains All American Pipeline LP (PAA).
