Jacobs wins plant services contract from Suncor for Canadian oil sands

Jacobs Engineering Group was awarded an oil sands and plant services contract by Suncor Energy at its Fort McMurray base plant located approximately 270 miles northeast of Edmonton, Alberta, officials confirmed on Tuesday.

Company officials did not disclose the contract value, but noted that Jacobs has maintained an excellent safety record at the plant while participating in seven turnarounds over the last four years.

The duration of the new contract is for two years.

Under the terms of the contract, Jacobs is providing management and services to support the maintenance of the plant’s process, which may include mechanical, rotating and operating equipment, as well as maintenance provisions in the areas of transportation, insulation, painting, and structural work.

“We have provided services to Suncor at their facilities across Canada for a number of years and are delighted to further the relationship through this contract at the Fort McMurray base plant," said Jacobs vice president Greg Rumford.

"With our maintenance experience and turnarounds safety record, we look forward to supporting Suncor’s goals for efficient operations and continuous improvement," he added.
