Statoil resumes production at Hammerfest LNG following gas leak

STAVANGER -- Statoil has started run-up of the Hammerfest LNG plant, and the plant has now reached stable operation, company officials said Thursday.

"All necessary repairs on the plant have been completed to ensure a safe and efficient start-up," said Knut Gjertsen, head of Snohvit operations.

The Hammerfest LNG plant was shut down on January 5 in the night due to a gas leak in the processing facility.

In connection with the plant run-up, a condensate leak occurred, which required extra time for the start-up preparations.

The incident will be investigated by Statoil.
