Dow's Plaquemine complex suffers disruption, ethylene supply curtailed for 3-4 weeks

During the week of April 20, ethylene production facilities at The Dow Chemical Company Plaquemine, Louisiana site experienced two separate process incidents. These separate incidents collectively resulted in the disruption of ethylene production at the Company’s LA-2 and LA-3 manufacturing units. In addition, the Benzene unit at the Company’s Plaquemine site also experienced a process disruption. There were no injuries to site personnel during the incidents.

Currently, Dow is working diligently and safely to return the site to normal operations as soon as possible. It is estimated that ethylene supply from the two ethylene units will be curtailed for 3-4 weeks. Additionally, Benzene supply from the Company’s Benzene unit will be reduced for more than five weeks. During this period, the Company's downstream derivatives units will continue to operate at reduced rates with ethylene supplied from a Dow-owned pipeline.
