Gas leak at Statoil’s Mongstad refinery contained

At 1:15 p.m. on October 25, 2016, there was a report of a gas leak at Mongstad. The situation was quickly resolved and was under control at 2:30 p.m. In compliance with instructions, an evacuation alarm was put into effect and Statoil’s contingency organization was alerted. No one was injured during the event. 

The incident was caused by a hydrogen discharge in the petrol plant. This part of the plant is being shut down and depressurized.
