NAM Adds Jordan Stoick to Head Government Relations Team

Washington, D.C. – The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is continuing the ambitious expansion of its footprint in the nation’s capital with three new hires to its government relations and policy team, including the addition of Jordan Stoick as Vice President of Government Relations. Led by Senior Vice President Aric Newhouse, who has consistently received national recognition for his leadership and influence in Washington, the NAM’s government relations and policy divisions are coming off a highly impactful 2017, which included a leading role in shaping the recently enacted tax reform legislation and the reform or repeal of numerous federal regulations that were impeding business success. Representing some of the top policy and government relations professionals in the country, these new hires will expand the NAM’s reach and effectiveness in Washington to deliver even more results for the more than 12 million men and women who make things in the United States.

“The hiring of Jordan Stoick to head our government relations team is a huge coup for manufacturers. As a respected veteran of Capitol Hill and the current administration, Jordan will further enhance our lobbying might and will lead the NAM’s government relations strategy so we can deliver even more results for manufacturers and manufacturing workers,” said NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons. “With Jordan on board, coupled with the additions of Patrick Hedren and Laura Berkey-Ames, the NAM is adding even more firepower to a government relations and policy team that delivered consistent and impressive results for our members in 2017. Their impressive resumes and diverse sets of experiences make them exceptionally well qualified to help manufacturers seize this moment while navigating the often complicated Washington, D.C., landscape.”

New hires include the following:

  • Jordan Stoick joins the NAM as Vice President of Government Relations. As chief deputy to Senior Vice President of Policy and Government Relations Aric Newhouse, Jordan will serve as the NAM’s lead lobbyist in Washington and will also manage growing the effectiveness of the NAM-PAC. Jordan comes to the NAM from the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where he was Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs. Prior to that, he was Chief of Staff to Rep. Kristi Noem (R-SD), Vice President at the public affairs firm Direct Impact, Communications Director for Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS), Press Secretary for then-Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and a campaign aide to Sen. John Thune (R-SD).
  • Patrick Hedren joins the NAM as Vice President of Labor, Legal and Regulatory Policy. Patrick joins the NAM from GE, where he was most recently Senior Counsel for Regulatory Advocacy. In that position, Patrick led GE’s engagement on a wide range of regulatory efforts around the globe. Patrick also has prior experience as a litigation attorney and on Capitol Hill.
  • Laura Berkey-Ames joins the NAM as Director of Energy and Resources Policy. Prior to joining the NAM, Laura held roles as Senior Manager of Government Relations at American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers, Manager of Government Relations at American Public Works Association and Manager of Government Affairs at Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute.

“From infrastructure investment to workforce development, additional regulatory reforms to expanded trade opportunities, manufacturers have a clear agenda for the year ahead, and Jordan, Patrick and Laura will be among the key players making that agenda a reality,” added Newhouse.

Following last September’s announcement of six new hires and promotions, the NAM earlier this month rolled out a second wave of new hires to its communications and advocacy divisions as part of its ambitious plan to expand the organization’s reach and effectiveness.
