Dimensional Energy and Idemitsu partner on low‑carbon fuels and materials
Idemitsu Americas Holdings Corp. and Dimensional Energy Inc., a licensor of syngas and synthetic hydrocarbon catalyst technology capable of converting any carbonaceous feedstock into high-performance hydrocarbons, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to advance a comprehensive strategic collaboration aimed at developing a low carbon business model in North America.
Leveraging each company’s technological expertise, business assets, and regional networks, both parties seek to create new value that contributes to betterment of the environment and sustainable development of the society and economy of the Americas.
Under this MoU, the companies will jointly explore and promote diverse business opportunities with low-carbon products such as naphtha, diesel, SAF, and base oil across North America.
At the same time, Idemitsu Americas Holdings and Dimensional Energy have signed a technical collaboration agreement in which Idemitsu will evaluate qualities of base oil converting carbon dioxide (CO2), produced by Dimensional’s Technology Demonstration Center in Tucson, Arizona. In this feasibility study, Idemitsu will confirm factors such as its performance and environmental value for practical application and diffusion in the global lubricants market.
In addition, Idemitsu will move forward with feasibility studies on producing low-carbon plastics using a mass-balance approach by processing CO2-derived naphtha at its refineries and complexes in Japan, with the aim of establishing a production and supply system for these low-carbon basic chemicals in the Asian market.
Idemitsu Americas Holdings President and CEO Keitaro Sugihara said, “Dimensional Energy’s unique catalyst technology contributes to the realization of stable energy supply for a low-carbon economy. Through this strategic partnership, we will work closely with the Dimensional team to examine the business feasibility of various low carbon products in a comprehensive business model centered on North America and involving various internal and external stakeholders.”
Dimensional Energy CEO and co-Founder Jason Salfi said, “At Dimensional Energy, we are remaking the hydrocarbon economy from the molecule up through our advanced catalyst technologies. Together with Idemitsu, we will scale North American capacity to deliver innovative, clean hydrocarbons that integrate seamlessly into existing applications, lowering carbon intensity and environmental impact without sacrificing performance or reliability. This long-term, aligned collaboration is essential to deliver the products we all need for a cleaner, brighter future.”
