The Shipping Corporation of India and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders sign contract for methanol dual fuel platform supply vessel

The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. has signed a Shipbuilding contract at New Delhi with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd for construction and delivery of one number methanol dual fuel platform supply vessel (PSV).

The 3000T DWT methanol dual fuel diesel electric platform supply vessel will be the first vessel in SCI’s fleet to operate on Green Methanol, a step towards the green shipping under the aegis of National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) of the Government of India. This PSV will be the proud flag bearer of Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative of the Government of India and will be built under the stringent Classification Rules of Indian Register of Shipping (IRS).

With this contract, SCI has exhibited its strong commitment to encourage and bolster the growth of Indian Shipbuilding thereby contributing towards the domestic shipbuilding ecosystem in lines of Maritime India Vision 2030 and Maritime Amritkaal Vision 2047, the long-term roadmaps by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways to transform India into a global maritime leader.
