Praxair to expand New Mexico nitrogen plant

Praxair announced Friday that it will further expand its industrial gases facilities located in Kirtland, New Mexico.

The expansion will include a new nitrogen plant that will increase production capacity in 2014.

Demand for nitrogen continues to grow as oil and gas operators develop new resources in the San Juan Basin, which includes southwestern Colorado, northwestern New Mexico and adjacent areas in Arizona and Utah.

“Our new plant will increase our supply in the San Juan Basin helping us meet customer requirements for pipeline and liquid nitrogen,” said Gerald Miller, vice president of the West region for Praxair’s US industrial gases business. “Our continued investment in this area is possible, in part, because of the support we receive from local and state government.”
