Alternative Petroleum Technologies Ready to Deploy Lower Cost Desulfurization Technology

Reno, Nevada (January 17, 2018) - Alternative Petroleum Technologies, Inc. (APT) is pleased to announce that it has completed the development of its unique, patented, cost-saving Oxidative Desulfurization (ODS) process for distillate fuels.  The ODS process uses liquids, in a low pressure and low temperature environment, to achieve distillate fuel sulfur levels less than 15 ppm.  The ODS process produces a finished fuel ready for use.

APT’s ODS process has been independently validated by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Argonne National Labs (www.anl.gov) and has been optimized to produce ultra-low sulfur fuels at low cost.  The initial design of the plant has now also been reviewed and confirmed by Fluor, a global engineering firm.

Unlike the HDS system currently used at refineries to desulfurize distillate fuels, the main cost-saving advantage of APT’s approach is that the fuel is not processed under high temperatures and pressures.  It also does not need large amounts of ancillary equipment.  These items are both capital and operationally expensive.  ODS is operationally much simpler and thus less expensive and much safer to use than the HDS process currently in use around the world.

APT is now seeking locations to deploy skid-mounted ODS systems within the United States and internationally.  Due to the above advantages, ODS plants can be sized and placed in locations such as smaller refineries and fuel distributors.
