Rosneft takes new legal action against Germany over Schwedt refinery

Russian oil company Rosneft has filed a new lawsuit against the trusteeship of its German subsidiaries, which are majority owners in the PCK Schwedt refinery, a court in Berlin said.

Rosneft filed the lawsuit on March 30 to meet a deadline in response to a German economy ministry order in late February that placed the Russian firm's units under a trusteeship, a court spokesperson said in an emailed statement.

The German economy ministry said on Wednesday that "ensuring security of supply remains the primary objective of all measures taken by the federal government in relation to Rosneft Deutschland."

The decision to place them under a trusteeship was part of efforts to establish long-term control after the previous framework required state control to be renewed every six months.

Rosneft had filed a lawsuit against the previous trusteeship in 2022 but was unsuccessful.
