By KYONG-AE CHOI and MIN-JEONG LEE

Hyundai Heavy Industries, the world's largest shipbuilder by order value, said Tuesday it has received, along with its affiliate company, a combined $1.1 billion LNG ship order in Europe.

Hyundai Heavy and its affiliate Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries Co. will deliver five LNG ships by the first half of 2015, the company said.

Hyundai will build two LNG carriers for Golar LNG in Norway and build one LNG floating storage gassification unit for Hoegh LNG Holdings.

The company didn't name the European firm that it was building the remaining two LNG carriers for.

Hyundai's comments follow a separate announcement by STX Offshore & Shipbuilding Co. earlier in the day that it received won a $210 million deal to build six oil tankers and another $398 million deal to build two LNG ships in Europe.
