US fuel demand tanks amid low gasoline use - API
US petroleum deliveries in December 2011 were down 5.9% from December 2010, declining to an average of 18.6 million bpd to hit their lowest December level in 15 years. Overall, total petroleum deliveries (a measure of demand) fell 1.2% in 2011 to an average of 18.9 million bpd.
US oil groups ask EPA to cut cellulosic biofuel rule
The NPRA, API and Western States Petroleum Association jointly filed a petition Friday requesting that the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) waive the 2011 cellulosic biofuel volume mandate in its entirety. The groups claim no cellulosic biofuel was actually produced last year.

Tesoro seeks sale of Hawaii refinery, retail stations
Tesoro is planning to sell its Hawaii operations, including the 94,000 bpd Kapolei refinery, operations at 32 retail stations and all associated logistical assets, according to company officials. The refinery yield is distillate-focused and is complementary to the on-island demand for utility, jet and military fuels.
EIA hikes 2012 WTI oil price outlook to $100.25/bbl
The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Tuesday raised its 2012 oil price forecast by more than $2/bbl to $100.25/bbl, saying it assumes the US economy grows 1.8% this year. In last month's report, the EIA expected 2012 West Texas Intermediate crude to average $98/bbl
